The parish church in Jasień
The parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed into Heaven in Jasień was established in the Middle Ages by a local knight, Spytko of Melsztyn, in 1436. It is a Gothic church built of the local limestone. The double bay presbytery is crowned with a cross-rib volt. On one of the volt keys there is a stylized gothic shield with St Mary’s monogram with a crown. The other depicts Leliwa – the founder’s coat of arms. On the high Neo-Gothic altar there is a late baroque statuette of St Mary Mother of God, the 18th century tabernacle, and two other statuettes of St Wojciech and St Stanisław the Bishop.
The rectangle nave is wider than the presbytery. On the flat volt of the nave the scenes of St Mary’s life are presented. The central part of the composition depicts Virgin Mary’s Assumption.
In the church there are also two baroque side altars, an ambo (a pulpit), timber balcony, and stone baptismal font.
